Abstract
These presentations and videos were given at the Cyber Simulator Showcase, an event hosted by the SEI at its office in Arlington, Virginia on June 3, 2019. The Showcase offered discussions and live demonstrations of six open source tools and two simulations developed by the SEI to create more realistic computer environments for cybersecurity activities and training. These presentations and videos give an overview of what participants can learn from those discussions and demonstrations, including how to enhance their cyber-emulation environments, how to provide the best training possible by simulating their own networks, and how to get help from the SEI to use these tools. The presentations cover what the SEI’s tools can provide to improve the realism of cyber events and training, including all of the following:
- a simulated Internet
- web servers, chat servers, mail servers, and everything that creates Internet traffic
- realistic user traffic
- wireless networking that doesn’t appear in wired networks
- practice environments without administrative traffic
- simple and repeatable network building and deployment that can users can save and call up on demand
- simulations of real-world networks, including financial services and SCADA environments
