Abstract
The workforce data analysis performed in this paper found great variation in the way organizations title and describe cybersecurity positions. This lack of uniformity and coordination makes closing the workforce gap more difficult. To address that difficulty, Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute (SEI) analyzed cybersecurity job descriptions to pare them down to the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) that make up each role. The SEI aligned the KSAs to NICE Cybersecurity Workforce Framework Work Roles to analyze the top in-demand cybersecurity work roles and to help establish the framework as a common standard to help hiring managers recruit talent.
