Shen Zhang

Software Engineering Institute

Shen Zhang joined Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute (SEI) in November 2021 as a senior software engineer under the EMCS directorate within the Software Solutions Division.

At the SEI, Zhang has been involved in several external (Air Force / Navy) and internal SEI projects as both a tech lead and individual contributor. These projects focused in the areas of software development process, static/dynamic code analysis, and software acquisition.

He has a technical background in process simulation, industrial control systems, and power generation. Prior to joining the SEI, he was a senior simulation software engineer / technical lead at Emerson Automation Solutions (Power & Water Solutions) in Pittsburgh, where he spearheaded novel development efforts for the Ovation Digital Twin product.

Since 2007, Zhang has been involved with various aspects of the power simulation business, including research and development, engineering tools development, project execution, and field support. He has worked on projects for various utilities, research institutes, and universities both domestically and internationally (in the UK, France, India, and South Korea).

Zhang holds a BS and MS in Nuclear Engineering from North Carolina State University.
