SEI Supports Cybersecurity Awareness Month with Webcast Series
• Article
October 4, 2021—The SEI will support Cybersecurity Awareness Month with free webcasts on a range of cybersecurity topics, hosted by researchers from the SEI’s CERT Division. The webcasts will take place from 1:30-2:30 p.m., ET, on October 7, 21, and 27.
Every October since 2004, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) have sponsored an awareness-raising campaign about the importance of cybersecurity across the nation. The theme of Cybersecurity Awareness Month is “Do your part. #BeCyberSmart.”
CISA offers resources, such as pamphlets and social media messaging, to help “individuals and organizations to own their role in protecting their part of cyberspace, stressing personal accountability and the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity,” according to the CISA website.
Each week this month, CISA will promote a different cybersecurity message: “Be Cyber Smart;” “Phight the Phish;” “Explore, Experience, Share;” and “Cybersecurity First.”
To help spread the word, the SEI's CERT Division will highlight some of its cybersecurity research and development by presenting free webcasts:
- Zero Trust Journey, October 7, 1:30-2:30 p.m. ET—Geoffrey Sanders and Tim Morrow discuss the purpose of and how to think about zero trust architecture transition.
- CRO Success Factors in the Age of COVID, October 21, 1:30-2:30 p.m. ET—Brett Tucker will discuss the critical factors for risk executives to be successful and protect critical assets. Tucker will be joined by Ryan Zanin, chief risk officer at Fannie Mae, and Abid Adam, group chief risk and compliance officer at Axiata.
- A Cybersecurity Engineering Strategy for DevSecOps, October 27, 1:30-2:30 p.m. ET—Carol Woody and Rita Creel present a strategy for cybersecurity engineering in DevSecOps environments.
The webcasts are free to attend and require registration.
