2024 SEI Research Review Crafts Connections
• Article
October 28, 2024—The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) today announced the agenda for its 2024 Research Review. The annual event showcases the most innovative SEI research and development projects from the past year. The 2024 Research Review will be held in person in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, November 13. Attendance at this free event is limited, and registration is required.
This year’s theme, Crafting Connections, highlights the SEI’s collaborative research advancements designed to address the four big software challenges for national defense and security: capability, timeliness, affordability, and trustworthiness. Attendees will learn how to integrate SEI tools, techniques, and processes into their own work contexts and hear about the positive impact of these technologies on the Defense Department’s mission.
Presentations and demonstrations will detail some of the SEI’s most forward-leaning research and development:
- artificial intelligence (AI) robustness
- co-design for edge AI
- detecting indicators of malicious code insertions
- explainable verification for rapid certification
- modeling container reproducibility failures
- large-scale assurance
Alexis Bonnell, chief information officer and director of the Digital Capabilities Directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory, will provide the keynote address.
The SEI’s chief technology officer, Tom Longstaff, will host the event. “Collaboration among government, industry, and academia is critical in the fast-changing world of software, cybersecurity, and AI,” said Longstaff. “Attendees at this year’s Research Review will not only get an inside look at some of the SEI’s projects for national defense. They’ll also have the opportunity to forge their own new connections.”
