Abstract

CMMI-DEV has been here for numerous years as the best-renowned model for development process improvement. Simultaneously, Scrum and other Agile methods (particularly for software development) are becoming more popular. Both have the same intention – fewer defects, better quality, faster results, etc. In addition, both CMMI and Agile are based on positive experiences with certain approaches but originate from different historical backgrounds and boundary conditions. However, both have also been used inappropriately, leading to frustration and undesirable results.

Are both approaches actually so far off from each other, or is there a hidden treasure called synergy?

Can both, CMMI and Agile methods, mutually benefit from each other?

Can evidence from Agile methods be used for a SCAMPI appraisal?

Please note that current and future CMMI research, training, and information has been transitioned to the CMMI Institute, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Carnegie Mellon University.
