Abstract
A deepfake is a media file—image, video, or speech, typically representing a human subject—that has been modified deceptively using deep neural networks (DNNs) to alter a person’s identity. Due to advances in machine learning, the tools for making deepfake audio and video content are becoming both more refined and more accessible at a rapid pace. These factors are leading to an increased incidence of deepfakes and, as a result, increased security risks. Deepfakes Day will present a series of talks explaining what deepfakes are, how they are made, the risks they pose, and approaches for detecting and mitigating them.
