Abstract

This report is intended for organizations and individuals who have knowledge of either the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Product Suite or the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9000 family of standards, and are interested in learning more about the other process standard. The CMMI for Development, Version 1.2 (CMMI-DEV, V1.2) model and the ISO 9001:2000 standard are compared, and their similarities and differences are noted. This report is not intended to be an exhaustive or authoritative comparison between the CMMI-DEV, V1.2 model and the ISO 9001:2000 standard, nor does it provide specific guidance for organizations that wish to decide which model or standard to adopt.

Please note that current and future CMMI research, training, and information has been transitioned to the CMMI Institute, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Carnegie Mellon University.
