National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Cyber-Risk Oversight Program

Developed by the National Association of Corporate Directors, Ridge Global LLC, and the CERT Division of the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute, this online, self-paced certificate program will:

  • Enhance your understanding of the cyber-security threat landscape,
  • Detail the respective responsibilities of the board and management in cyber-risk oversight,
  • Lead you through a cyber-crisis simulation to evaluate your organization's preparedness, and
  • Earn you a tangible credential to demonstrate your commitment to advanced cyber-risk oversight.

The NACD Cyber Risk Oversight Program provides participants with a tangible credential to demonstrate your commitment to advanced cybersecurity literacy to your management team, customers, investors, peers, regulators, and lawmakers.

Participants can showcase your CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight on resumes and LinkedIn profiles to demonstrate your advanced understanding of the role of the board and management in cyber-risk oversight. If you serve on the board of a public company, your CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight can be highlighted in proxy statements and other regulatory filings.

The NACD Cyber-Risk Oversight Program consists of seven modules, including a cyber-crisis simulation exercise and series of exams. The program takes approximately 16 hours to complete and participants complete the program at their own pace. Exams must be completed within one year of registration. The CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight does not expire.
