Austin Whisnant

Software Engineering Institute

Austin Whisnant is a Member of the Technical Staff with the CERT Program at the Software Engineering Institute, a unit of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). Her research interests include large-scale network traffic analysis, risk analysis, modeling and simulation, and national cybersecurity policy. Whisnant is also currently a PhD student in the Engineering and Public Policy program at CMU’s College of Engineering, and a lecturer at both the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and CMU’s Institute for Politics and Strategy. She holds a Master of Science in Telecommunications with a focus on Information Assurance from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Science from Furman University in Computer Science and Mathematics.
